Ministry of Care

PLEASE NOTE: If you are admitted to a hospital and would like a member of the clergy or a caregiver to visit you, please notify the hospital or call the Parish Center. Many times we miss patients in the hospital, especially if they come in through the Emergency Room because their names does not appear on the Catholic list. Federal Regulations: Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) prohibits hospitals from informing churches of a patient’s presence unless the patient gives permission for the hospital to do so.

The Ministry of Care is a vital aspect of our parish life because it deals with the reality of life – illness, isolation, and other areas that are part of our journey to deeper union with God.

Membership of the Ministry of Care is composed of dedicated, spiritual, caring and prayerful persons who are concerned with the needy members of our parish. Their ministry includes bringing the Eucharist, praying, supporting and comforting those they serve and their families. To fill an ever-growing need, this ministry also assists the Bereavement Hospitality group in organizing, providing food and hosting the O.L.P.H. funeral receptions when our onsite facilities are available.

As part of their continuing formation, the members meet on the fourth Thursday of each month. The purpose of these meetings is to deepen spirituality and reinforce the focus of their mission. A morning of prayer and reflection is offered every September and May. The ministry is also affiliated with the Association of Pastoral Ministers of Care in the diocese.

If you are aware of any parishioner who is unable to join us for Sunday Mass because of age or illness, and wishes to receive the Eucharist, please call the Ministry of Care office, Wendy Richards at (480) 874-3762 with the name, address and telephone number of the homebound individual. The request may be for either a short-term or a long-term need.
